Nomadic VR - Director of Engineering

Nomadic VR was the developer of the most immersive tactile VR platform just before the 2020 pandemic. As direct competitors to Disney’s VR company The Void, Nomadic set the bar for fully immersive tactile exploration within a virtual headset. The VR platform was modular, tactile, and robust in its ability to host 60 people an hour with multiple simulated vehicles such as a train, elevator, boat, and helicopter ride all in one experience. Players engaged with physical elements like moving doors, buttons, levers, plank, and were instantly immersed in their environment due to varying simulated weather controls, and vibrational floor zones which mimicked vehicles and explosions within the visual experience.

I personally served as the director of engineering at Nomadic VR and managed the integrations of immersive technologies, while leading the team and design of the custom I/O system for tactile props. In addition, I managed fulfillment, distribution, and installation while leading the engineering team through product development lifecycles.

Locations were opened in Florida and South Korea with plans to be the opening tenant along side Meow Wolf at Area 15 in Las Vegas, NV. Unfortunately covid halted the install and Nomadic closed its doors during the 2020 shutdown.
